FC Bayern Munich 0:2 FC Barcelona – Audi Cup
Veteran Turkish International, loads of experience with Schalke and Bayern. Actively sought after by Mourinho and Real Madrid, and getting payed a very pleasant sum of money to get his back fixed and be on a CL contending team, which also happens to be one of the most recognizable brands in the world. That’s a serious endorsement. Usami’s not there yet.
I will say after watching the extended highlights, Usami showed some real potential. Both, the curling pass to Peterson, beating a man and sending Alaba in, and another nice move deep in the left to get a cross to Peterson for a header. Could have been 3 goals right there. Classic wing play serving two strikers. But, he needs to get stuck in on defence, or at least keep alert and get a toe in. He made it too easy for Tiaga on the second goal. Forget the seaweed, feed him some good bavarian food and put him on the weights.
On the defensive tactics and playing against the press.. Bumy’s got a point. And, Barcelona have won many games, because they’re good at it. But, that’s exactly what these games are for, and it was a good test for everybody, but especially the young ones and the new comers. Hopefully, Contento will learn something from going up soft directly in front of the goal. Granted, a tired Rafinha seemed to forget about Maxwell for a min. and then let him cross from a good position.
I didn’t see much defending, but if Boateng slips that cracker in from outside, the place would have went crazy for him. Hopefully, next time
I’m so tired of Barca winning, and it’s even worse in the Allianz even for a friendly.
But, all in all it was very good for everyone on a lot of levels. There was some positive stuff and some obvious mistakes, so I think it was a good showing.
